1. Trace the pattern pieces onto freezer paper, using the pattern diagram for color and number to cut.

3. Using a small blanket stitch and off white thread sew down the robin body and wing.
4. Continue with the blanket stitch sew down the red breast and beak.
5. Using a running stitch sew down the middle of the stem. Position the leaves and sew down the middle of each leaf.
6. Position the flower head and center at the top of the stem. Sew with a straight stitch an “X” over the blue center to hold it and the flower in place. No need to sew the flower petals down.
7. Switch to black thread. Position the bee body with one wing tucked underneath. Using a satin or straight stitch sew the 2 stripes on the bee body. Be sure to catch the wing in the sewing.
8. Position the remaining wing into place and sew with a straight stitch a “V” to hold the wing in place.
9. Using the black thread hand stitch a very small “X” for the bird eye and bee eye. Sew in a zigzag bee path.
10. Take the remaining pocket base piece and the ribbon. Sew the ribbon to the top of the base on either side. (see pattern)
11. Make a sandwich with the ribbon base on the bottom, ribbon face up and the finished bird base, design side up. Straight stitch a scant ¼” around the curved base sandwich leaving the top open.
